Butcombe Pubs’ Digital Journey from Printed Posters to Textura Pro

In early 2026, Butcombe Pubs began planning a major refresh across its venues. The aim was to modernise and expand its spaces while reaffirming its position as a premium pub brand.

Printed posters had traditionally been used to advertise food and drink offers, promote Butcombe’s own beer brands and showcase campaigns throughout its pubs. As part of the refresh, however, Butcombe wanted to explore a more visually engaging digital solution that would reflect the quality and character of its venues.

The Brown Cow, in Fulham, London, and The Dundas Arms in Berkshire were selected as the first two sites to undergo refurbishment. These venues would allow Butcombe to assess how digital displays could be integrated into its pub environments without compromising their traditional, premium feel.

The solution needed to feel considered, refined and appropriate for a traditional hospitality environment. It also needed to offer a more modern and flexible alternative to printed posters.

Finding the right fit

The most important requirement was that the displays should suit the look and feel of the pubs. The Brown Cow has a premium interior, so Butcombe did not want standard commercial displays or domestic-style screens that might look out of place.

Butcombe’s venues regularly promote food and drink offers, its own beer brands, and photography of its drinks and sites. Printed materials could not be updated quickly and did not offer the same visual impact as a digital solution.

Remote content management was another key requirement. With the displays controlled by head office, Butcombe needed a system that allowed content to be updated easily without staff needing to be physically present at each venue. This was particularly important for promotions that might change regularly across different sites.

The installation itself also needed to be discreet. As the displays were being installed into finished pub environments, visible cables could have undermined the premium appearance. Butcombe therefore planned cable recesses in advance so the screens could be installed cleanly.

Reliable internet connectivity was also essential. During the project at The Brown Cow, Wi-Fi strength was identified as a potential issue in certain areas of the pub. Because the displays would be managed remotely, a strong connection was needed to ensure content could be updated without interruption.

A premium digital signage solution

Taking these requirements into account, TVD Group recommended the 27-inch Textura Pro Digital Canvas from Vieunite.

With its wooden frame options and texture-accurate display surface, the Textura Pro offered a more refined alternative to standard digital signage. The wooden frame helped the displays blend naturally into the interiors of The Brown Cow and The Dundas Arms, while the anti-glare panel gave the screens a softer, more premium appearance.

With Vieunite Pro Advanced licences, Butcombe’s head office team could manage the displays remotely through the Vieunite Pro Portal. This enabled the team to update content quickly and consistently, including food and drink offers, Butcombe beer promotions, and brand photography of its drinks and venues.

The cabling was carefully planned with The Brown Cow so it could be recessed and hidden from view. This helped the displays feel properly integrated into the pub rather than added as an afterthought.

Before installation, the toilet corridor at The Brown Cow was identified as an area where the Wi-Fi signal could be weaker. Butcombe set up a boosted internet connection to support reliable remote management. As a result, all three displays at the venue were strongly connected to the internet, allowing the head office team to manage content through the Vieunite Pro Portal without connection issues.

Training was also provided to help the team use the portal confidently.

The result

At the end of April 2026, three 27-inch Textura Pro Canvases were installed at The Brown Cow, each with a walnut frame and Advanced licence.

One display was positioned by the bar, where it could promote food and drink offers at an important customer touchpoint. A second was installed in the snug room at the rear of the pub, bringing brand and promotional content into a quieter seating area. The third was placed in the toilet corridor, making use of another high-traffic area where customers would regularly pass.

The finished installation provided Butcombe with a modern alternative to printed posters while respecting the look and feel of the pub.

The displays were well received and fitted naturally within the premium interior. By combining Butcombe’s own promotions with photography of its drinks and venues, the screens provided a more flexible and polished way to communicate with customers.

The Vieunite Pro Portal also meant that head office could manage content remotely, helping Butcombe keep promotions up to date across the site without requiring manual changes at venue level.

The boosted network connection ensured that all three displays remained reliably connected, while the carefully recessed cabling helped maintain a clean and discreet installation. This was particularly important in a venue where presentation and atmosphere are central to the customer experience.

In June 2026, the second installation was completed at The Dundas Arms as part of its refurbishment. One Textura display was installed in the bar, bringing the same refined digital signage approach to another Butcombe pub.

Although smaller in scale than the installation at The Brown Cow, it demonstrated how the solution could be adapted to suit the layout and requirements of an individual venue.

A partnership approach

Chris Whitlock, Technical Director for TVD Group, said:

“Working with Vieunite on the Butcombe Pubs installations was a great experience from start to finish. The team were responsive, supportive and genuinely invested in helping us deliver a smooth project. Having strong backend technical support made a real difference throughout the installation.

“The product itself has been reliable and easy to work with, but what really stood out was the level of service. It felt like working with a partner rather than just a supplier, and that’s something we really value at TVD Group.”

Following the installations at The Brown Cow and The Dundas Arms, the plan is for more Vieunite Pro displays to be installed as future Butcombe pubs are refurbished.
